My name is Sue Ayliff. I am a qualified teacher and adult tutor, and have worked in various settings from special schools to playgroups, from Family Centres to primary schools.
I specialise in movement play, in parenting classes and helping staff teams to improve their practice in regards to integrated working. I live in Oxfordshire, am married with three grown children.
I will tailor my services to your setting, your children, your staff and, most importantly, to your budget. There will be no hidden costs involved in my services since any likely expenses that occur over and above the fees will be discussed with you.
I believe all children have the right to learn through play and should be given the time, space and resources to do so. Adults have the important role of supporting this play both at home and in early years settings. I see myself as someone who can help adults develop their supporting role, both as individuals and as staff teams.
I am passionate about Movement Play, believing it is the foundation for all later learning as well as being important for physical well being. I have undertaken a lot of training in the field of Movement Play, and have been involved in research projects in this area.
I am interested in the current trend towards integrated services for children and families and have recently completed a Masters Degree on this topic. My dissertation is available from the downloads page. I believe integrated services have the potential to enhance the life of children and can strengthen family life.
I believe the early years workforce needs to become more professional in its outlook, embracing current research into the importance of play.
I think we need to be working towards seeing children as powerful agents in their own learning. As professionals we need to work with families and local communities recognising them as the child’s principal educator.
